Producing Artefact: One

After having initial worrying thoughts that producing artefact: one would not be able to be produced using any related technology to the early 1980’s, it seems as though my contacting of people all around the university has worked.
From Waverley to Bonnington, directed back to Waverley, only to be re-directed back to Bonnington, related technology of a nearer time to the 1980’s has finally been located!

With thanks to Fred and Iain, I will be able to record artefact: one, using a S-VHS camera. Unfortunately the two batteries that were supplied with the camera were not in working order, so the news article idea had to be scrapped and changed drastically. The audio will need to be recorded at the same time as the video is taken, so the idea of a voice-over has been scrapped from the plans. The decision to edit the artefact with two VHS players / recorders has also caused more problems. The footage will be edited using a ‘crash’ editing idea, by playing the course of the recorded footage onto another tape by playing, pausing and recording each scene. The form of edited has also meant cancelling the idea of any graphics on screen for the planned interview.

This method of producing Artefact: one is not an exact replica of how an early 1980’s news broadcast article would of been produced, but given the resources within the University, this is the most appropriate way to produce the artefact.
